I have a AmTac power wrapper with the white square pedal that gets VERY HOT (can not touch it) after about 2 hrs of use winding guides. Is this normal or is it broken? Do you have the same problem with yours? Please keep the internet green! Recycle electrons. Re: AmTac power wrapper HOT pedal.

Your electron recycling system is inefficient :)
If I had to guess, you are somehow shorting to the pedal, or the rheostat is getting incredibly hot. I don't have one, but I would believe that what you are experiencing is not normal. Joe Re: AmTac power wrapper HOT pedal.

Sounds like the contacts in the rheostat aren't making up well enough and have arced and burned making the box get hot.. May not have enough pressure on the one that moves. Take it apart and clean the contacts, see if that helps. J.B.Hunt Bowling Green, KY Re: AmTac power wrapper HOT pedal.

Those particular pedals are made to work that way. They will get hot. Use them for too long at a stretch and they will burn out. Nature of the beast.

Danny,
If you don't want a hot pedal, use an electronic speed control, rather than a simple rheostat foot pedal control. The line master is one of the best on the market, very reliable and fairly inexpensive. [linemaster.com] [www.grainger.com] Roger Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
