Sling blade blanks MUSKY

HI
I am looking for a recommendation for a blank similar to the 4M86HF blank from St Croix. Has anyone used the Rainshadow lineup for this application? What about a swimbait rod that 8'6" in length that can throw 6-8 oz sling blades.

I have never built a musky rod. All I know would be from the Rodmaker article on building Musky rods that ran a few years ago. I didn't really read it but you might find something there. The Batson people seem to be pretty good at recommending certain blanks of theirs for specific applications.

I would highly recomend the new Batson RX8 musky blanks - I have built on every single model and they all performed superb!

Good Luck - Marc

I could be wrong, but it looks like Batson's new musky blanks are a "Proprietary blend of RX7, RX6 & E-glass materials for strength, power and sensitivity", not RX8 material. If it were RX8, I would expect the weight to be less. If they do indeed have an RX8 musky blank, I am very interested in seeing it.

Rolly, the IMU86XH-TC would be the only blank near the same ballpark as the slingblade. However, it would appear to be quite a bit heavier than the slingblade (30%). I'm guessing the only thing similiar would be the length. Lami's LGM102XH is very close to the slingblade but I think you'll find it's action a bit slower. It's more of a moderate fast compared to the faster action of the St. Croix.
