How do you make a carbon fiber fighting butt

I made a carbon fiber grip for the last fly rod I made. In fact I made several and they turned out nice. But now I am getting ready to make a new steelhead rod for myself and I want to do the carbon fiber thing again but I will have a fighting butt. Do they make a CF sock the is closed on one end you can buy? any suggestions?

Thanks,
Bob

make it like you did your handle then place a butt cap over the bottom to cover the hole. the cap can be anything that works. automotive panel fasteners are a good choice. you can also use the butt tack made by struble. this should give you some ideas

You are going to have to attach some eva or rubberized cork to the carbon butt. I'm making one for a 10wt now. The auto body panel clips work well too.

I've used the Mud Hole CRB Rubber Butt Cap Insert - [www.mudhole.com]

Here's a few examples...

I used a wooden dowel in the butt hole, colored with black sharpie marker and epoxied the heck out of it. No damage visible yet, if it scratches or dents give it some more epoxy.
