Switch Rod blank opinion

Recently received the Rainshadow Switch Rod kit from H&H (10'8' 8 weight 4 pc with a Batson handle kit). Very nice little package, and it made me think that a Dan Craft Sig V (might be a Sig IV - its been that long I don't remember) 10' 8wt 3pc blank that I have had for years and not built might make a really nice switch rod using the same handle kit. This will be my first switch rod, and I'm not (yet) a Spey caster either.

My question is - has anyone out there built a switch rod on the Dan Craft, and apart from being a little faster (perhaps) than the Rainshadow, how do you like it? This will be for my personal use, and used mainly on western rivers for steelhead and sea-run cutthroat.

Thanks in advance for any opinions you all may have.

Dave

I've owed a 7wt. 3 piece Sig V and a 5 piece 5 wt Sig IV that I have steelhead for 7-8 years now and I sure wouldn't use either as a switch rod blank. Like spey blanks the switch rods when used with double handed casts loads heavily, not the type loading I think the old Sig V or IV blanks were built for. The FT blanks however, have already proved themselves as a switch rod that can carry the additional stroke and line loading.
