Okay I wrote the customer's name with acrylic artist's ink and let it dry overnight. When I coated it with Chromaseal it melted the ink and I had to clean it all up and redo (it takes a few tries before I am happy with the lettering). Should I try coating with U40 colorlock 2 or just go ahead with epoxy? I have Permagloss here, also. I have had epoxy not want to lay down over some inks so I have not been coating the lettering but it wears off after a while. I made a couple lettering samples on spare a blank section to do a test, but still looking for advice.

Artists Spray Fix
A very light spritz is all you need. ..................................... Better to have and not need than to need and not have. Re: another inscription question

I take any ink and hit it with a hair dryer several times too make sure it is dry Then CP two coats. Then epoxy.
A spray is nice cause you do not rub with a brush and cause it to smear. Bill - willierods.com Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 07/28/2010 03:50PM by bill boettcher. Re: another inscription question

Have always applied epoxy directly over acrylic inks without any problems. I usually apply two coats of epoxy to the inscription area, do the lettering, and then one coat of epoxy. It lifts the lettering away from the blank and gives the appearance of being suspended for a unique look. Re: another inscription question

Update: I had cleaned with alcohol and scuffed and lettered the test piece, and I tried coating over the acrylic ink with Threadmaster and it worked fine. I went ahead and epoxied straight over the ink on the rod and it looks great. Thanks. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
