I have notice somethings about me, when i foucs doing wrapping a guides and when it get stress and start wrap poor and i have to shake my head and take a break time before start over again.. how i feel like when foucs stress when doing long wrap like 4 or 5 guides but i have find the better way to reduce foucs stress is wrap 1 guide a time and inpesct and start take recess for few min then do 2nd guides
when i take off from doing practice and start do somethings like study on blank and guides and take a look at placement guides and size and i can see what rodbuilder want to improve the guides placement not just mock as factory and it make somethings foucs turn in stress in your eyes and arms when doing wrapping ... What you've noticed is "normal" - Take a break. Walk around a little or just stand up and stretch, rotate your head. It helps Re: foucs with stress

Josh,
When I started building I had the same problem. I had to take a break between wraps or I would drive myself crazy. As you get better and faster it becomes easier to relax and you'll be able to wrap a whole rod without a break. It's just a matter of becoming more confident in your abilities and being able to relax. Your idea of taking a break to look over components and blanks is a good one, I do the same thing. I'm pretty sure I have Mudhole and Angler's Workshop catalogs memorized! jeremy Re: foucs with stress

I have sped up considerably on my last rod. It seems I have made a break through from what you are feeling, but it has taken a while, and I have been building more frequently lately. Going from wrapping a couple eyes in an evening to wrapping the entire rod in and finishing in one evening.
Not only am I faster but my quality has improved greatly. My wife mentioned this to me last night,"Why did the last one take so long and this one looks so much better?" Re: foucs with stress

last night i practice wrap just 1 30 size guide it take me almost 2 hour to complete coz when i wrap way to half i stop and go get drink and snack then back on finish the wrap and didnt get to bed til 130 am cos i'm take a slow and keep thread in line not over the line or bump, wrap smooth and flat, and doing the locked wrapping and trying to make invisible locked wrap, also i trying a regular wrap w/o lock wrap still get slip out so i like to go with locked wrap and is much better..
the little legs is my problem when hold it on blank so i use 4" cable tie but it help but not all... Re: foucs with stress

Josh thats one good thing about doing it just as a hobby, like you and I do.it dont matter how long it takes. If it takes me 2 hrs or 2 minutes the end result is the same.Ive been doing something I enjoy doing, where if I did it for a living I would have to hurry up.Ive only built and rebuilt 8 or 10 rods, and some have took a week and some a month. The more you do the faster and more confident you will get.Do just like you are when you get aggravated, just quit and do something else a little while. No deadlines,I love it.Im gonna make a great retired feller. Have fun and enjoy what you do. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
