Hello,
I'm building a Sage Xi2 990-4 for the salt and can't decide on the reel seat to use. I'm leaning toward Struble but don't know what size to use. Can someone out there enlighten me? I plan to use REC snakes and Fuji Titanium strippers. I want this to be as god as it gets Thanks Re: Sage Xi2 build suggestions

My preference is always towards one of the nylon/graphite seats due to the fact that they hold a reel so securely, never come loose and never corrode or jam. But some don't care for the plain jane appearance.
Struble makes good seats. Many commercial rod operations use them on their upper end rods. I'm not up to date enough on their current offerings to be able to advise you on style or size. Most of their seats are intended to be used for fly rods so you might just give them a call or shoot them an email and what they suggest for a rod of the type you're planning to build. I'm sure they offer some specialty saltwater seats and would know if any of the popular fly reels won't fit. ........... Re: Sage Xi2 build suggestions

I use Struble U18-HG Series Fly Seats on all my saltwater rods. One big advantage :Tapered grooves on each side of the body and openings in the retainer provide for safe, temporary placement of your hook. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
