Tip Top question

I use mainly Minima4 in a 4 ring as running guides.
As per suggestions i have been using Fuji BMCAT/MCAT tip tops and weight wise they are closer to what i was looking for, plus the bracing is way better. The only problem is the ring size in the tip top ( rated a 4.5) is smaller than the minima's (rated a 4). I am sometimes having an issue passing knots through them, never through the guides, just the tip top. A 6 ring in Fuji (their SIC) has the ring size OK but its weight and general size is just too much and the whole rod becomes 'clunky' to me. So do they make a BMCAT with tubes from 4 to 6 and rings at 6? Is there maybe another brand that has released something recently i missed that would have the low weight, bracing and smaller rings to match the minima's running guide size? Re: Tip Top question

Try the XBPPLT06R0 tops from Batson/Alps. They just might be what you are looking for. Lightweight bracing paired with a thin ceramic ring. I use them often on builds with 3mm running guides. This model is the double black chrome plated model with the hard aluminum oxide ring.
The picture on the website doesn't do the bracing on the 6mm ring justice. It is very thin. Joe Re: Tip Top question

Lou,
Another tought is to simply use another minim4 in a size 4 ring for the tip. Perfect match. Lots of folks do that for many different rods. You really don't have to use a tip top for the end guide on a rod. Roger Re: Tip Top question

I second Joe's suggestion on the Batson Alps tip Re: Tip Top question

Roger, i have used the 'spinning' minima guide as a top a few times. It certainly holds well enough, but it just does not look quite right to me. I could live with it on my personal rods but for others they did question it.
I will order one of the ALPS tips and try it out: thanks guys. Re: Tip Top question

If you can hang tight for a bit longer, the Minima tips in size 4 ring will be available. I contacted Pac Bay a while back and was assured that they'd be out right about now. Jason Cosby Cos Rods Re: Tip Top question

Jason,
thanks, do you know if they are changing the design too? Re: Tip Top question

Lou,
I was told that they would be in the Minima design and a deep pressed ceramic version. Jason Cosby Cos Rods Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
