Guide size?

Hi all. I'm building a simple spriral rod. It is a Super Seeker CJBF70M blank mated to an Avet SX6/4 I was tinking starting with a size 16 bumper 10 then ? any thoughts. This will be my first spiral.

You might want a little bigger butt guide.
I would use a sz 25, then go to 8's all the rest of the way.
You could go even smaller on the running guides if knots are not an issue.

Using a larger ring in the bumper guide is not a bad idea. It allows for more vertical movement in the line as the rod flexes deeply into the butt without introducing any side loads on the guide and its wraps there. But I'd advise bending/shaping the legs and feet of the guide so that it sits down right next to the blank. Make it as low as possible.
