I just ordered a 10' 3wt from Scott and wonder after reading cts's web sight if I need to wrap the ferrule's
this is stratight from there web site "Internal High Strength ferrule A high strength ferrule is placed at each join, to provide superior crush and split resistance. There is no need for the rod builder to place a ferrule wrap at this point for reinforcement." Bob Re: Do I need to rad the ferrule's on a cts blank?

But would you all still wrap them just for looks or just in case? I am new to this and have only built about 5 rods. but no cts blanks.
Thanks, Bob Re: Do I need to rad the ferrule's on a cts blank?

I belive st croix also says that no wrap is required. I wrap them anyway because i think it looks funny without one. JMO Re: Do I need to rad the ferrule's on a cts blank?

You won't hurt anything if you do, but it's not necessary for reinforcement.

From experience - I would not put too much strength in manufacturers claim about ferrule ends laminating. True if all is as it should be - but they make mistakes. Sometimes bad things happen when cutting a blank to size. Save yourself aggravation and wrap the ferrules and get some finish overlapping onto the cut edge of the female ferrule. Also, using a sharpened pencil as a form - lightly sand (400grit) and chamfer the inside of the female ferrule just a bit to take the sharp edge off. I have had some sharp female ferrule edges cut and delaminate the tip of the male ferrule.
