trying to looking for a backbone with fast action and a soft tip for defect,
another i'm trying to looking for a MHX 7' that can throw a 1/4 oz texas rig, but i wonder is 3/16 oz light than 1/4 oz ? i was thinking of 2nd blanks from MHX for fall season crawdad season smallmouth

Josh,

One rod that would fit both bills nicely would be a 3 power mag bass. But why build one rod, when you could build two :)

In my opinion when fishing single open hook lures, such as spinnerbaits and grubs, action is purely a matter of personal preference. Personally, I prefer extra fast action rods for such lures, as the limber tips allow for easy casting at the low end of the lure weight range for the blank, but you still get enough power in the butt to handle fish when needed.

In the MHX lineup, you might want to look at the SB811 or SB812 for spinner baits, and MB783 or MB843 for T-rigs.

I built the MB843 for a Tourney Fisherman specifically for T-rigs and he is loving it. Plenty of backbone, and well balanced.

Josh -- Joe is right on track with his suggestion about the SB 811 and SB812 MHX Blend blanks for spinner baits. The MB blanks that Joe and Matthew suggested are great choices for Texas riggin. As another suggestion for Texas riggin, I like to build the SJ 783 MHX and the SJ 843 MHX into a casting rod. Even thought they have the Spin Jig designation, they make great casting rods. They provide fantastic butt power and just a tad bit lighter in the tip for casting lighter baits on a casting rod than a Mag Bas style blank.

I prefer the MB782 MHX for buzz baits.
