I'd like to use your technique with a rubber reel seat end cap for a winding check like you used here...

A lathe makes it very easy. Pop the small end into a self centering chuck and just bore out the middle to the appropriate size. A higher RPM, 1500+ tends to give a cleaner cut. You can use a regular twist drill bit, just make sure it's sharp.

We covered this in detail in a past RodMaker article, but it's pretty simple to do just from the instructions above.

The Batson FBWC is overlooked because its not listed in our catalog. Here is a link to the web page so you can see how they look as another option. These will only fit size 16 casting and spin seat threaded side.
