Ive got an inqiry about cutting two musky rods, and converting them to travel rods. I'm very aprehensive about this. Is there a good way to do this without sacraficing the strength of the rods? Is there anyone in the chicago area that has done this before?

Take the specks and I am sure you can find a two or three piece blank that will fit

Specks are, how long-line weight-lure weight ??? Mud Hole should have some thing to fit

If you do a search, you will find some information. You shouild also come across I think a Rodmaker issue that shows you what to do. This has been talked about recently here.

Tough as most guys are on Musky rods......I wouldn't touch it with a 10' pole.

Make them a new 2pc.

Lamiglas used to build 3 piece saltwater travel rods. Angler's Workshop still has some of the 7 ft., 20 and 30 lb boat rod blanks that may work for you. Off the top of my head the graphite blank numbers were CGBT 84 3L and CGBT 84 3M and they were in the $50 range. Also Batson sells a peacock bass blanks in 6 ft 2 in and 7 ft lengths that I've been told work on pike or lighter musky applications.
