I might use some HT metallic thread or Trimar thread mixed in a wrap with some ncp thread.

Do I need to use color preserver because of the metallic or trimar thread?

Not really - It is a good idea to put at least on coat on, if even to get rid of the air in the thread. Can't hurt.

I find that regular nylon thread with CP looks better then NCP thread IMHO

Interesting. This is my 2nd build. My 1st build I did with all ncp and it seemed like I was getting air bubbles when applying the finish although there were no bubbles in the mix

Thanks for the help

If you don't want to use CP, you can also thin the first coat and that will help the finish penetrate the threads and let any bubbles break at the surface. Then a regular coat over that.

Thanks Bill. Can I thin the 1st coat with denatured alcohol or should I use something else?

You don't want to thin it - there's very little solids in it to begin with. Use it full strength and be done.

I think he is talking about the first coat of finish. If I don't use CP I thine my first coat of finish with mid-temp lacquer thinner. Flex Coat has there way on there site.
