a dealer I talk to said that to send me permagloss would cost a special $22.50 handling fee put on by the post office. Is this real or just a way to make extra money on shipping?? Re: special charge on itmes?

Your dealer isn't padding his fees - he's just playing by the rules. Any product containing anything considered combustible will, at the minimum, carry a USPS "hazardous material" fee. This is additional to the standard postage fee. I haven't kept track of the amount but the figure you state sounds about right. There are some products that can't be shipped via USPS at all, but PermaGloss and similar products will ship with the additional fee. This would apply to products like PermaGloss, Lumaseal, Casons Crystal Clear (solvent based formula), etc. You could ask your local postal service window clerk about it if you want to know the specifics.
I realize there are companies that ship such items without adding the fee by not declaring the combustible aspect to the USPS when they mail it. I won't comment on that practice other than to say that you can probably find a dealer somewhere that will ship you a bottle of PermaGloss without the additional fee. ............... If that is standard, try to figure out what else you may need and get all you can so you can justify the shipping
Or try calling Scott at Fish Sticks for LumiSeal. Same thing, a little different. Bill - willierods.com Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 05/19/2010 01:39PM by bill boettcher. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
