Determine Line Weight on Spin or Cast Rods

Using the Common Cents Method or any other method is there is a correct (best) way to determine the correct Line Weights for a spinning or casting rod? Re: Determine Line Weight on Spin or Cast Rods

There is no "correct" line pound test for such rods. It doesn't really matter. Most of the line ratings given in the catalogs is a reference as to what range such rods would normally be used for. In some instances, manufacturers will list lines so that the rod doesn't become the weak link in the chain. In other words, you want the line to break before the rod does, thus the upper line pound test listed would fail before the rod would in a deadlift situation.
