How long do you wait between two coats of Chromaseal CP and a first coat of FlexCoat Hi-Build?

THis is a popular question that always comes up. My smart alec answer is....wait until the first coat is dry. THat requires you to be able to tell when the CP is dry though. Err on the safe side, wait a few hours if that's what makes you comfy. Re: Waiting Time between CP and Epoxy

Thanks, Billy.
That's what I was looking for. I didn't want to hear 8-12 hours. Two should do. "It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so." Mark Twain John in Wethersfield, CT Re: Waiting Time between CP and Epoxy

I know what I do, and I know it varies. SOmetimes in 45 minutes it's OK, other times 2 hours. It's common for me to finish a wrap, put a couple of coats of CP, and the first coat of finish in th same day, I've yet to have a problem. IF you are not sure or wondering ust let it sit for a longer time and you'll be safe. If you wannt cut it close, and screw up - lol - just don't blame me. Re: Waiting Time between CP and Epoxy

John, I usually wait 2 or 3 hours from Chromaseal to Threadmaster. It usually is dry much sooner, but I err on the side of caution...some times!
70?? Heat wave!!!! My shop is around 60 or so usually in the winter, I have lights on to warm it up a bit! Re: Waiting Time between CP and Epoxy

I always go longer than what is recommended. Temperature and Humidity has a lot to do with drying time. My best test is when the cat walks over the rod while on the turner, turning and does not leave any hair on the wrap. LOL Just kidding Good Wraps Bob Re: Waiting Time between CP and Epoxy

Bob,
At that point, I would try max RPM. That would dislodge the cat, but probably not the hairs! LOL "It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so." Mark Twain John in Wethersfield, CT Re: Waiting Time between CP and Epoxy

Bob,
Good thing I don't have a cat. It wouldn't work out at all. "It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so." Mark Twain John in Wethersfield, CT Re: Waiting Time between CP and Epoxy

The bad thing is I have a long haired Taco eater also. Darn thing loves to get in the shop and shake all over. I have threatened you make a large mix of Epoxy and cover him. (Make him a door stop. LOL Good Wraps Bob Re: Waiting Time between CP and Epoxy

I have the same problem with dog hair. Put the final touches on a surf rod, it was rotating while I was sleeping. Woke up, dog hair over the decal. Had to sand it out and recoat. The door was closed, but still managed to get the hair in the room somehow!
John, I've set up 4 accounts with various supply houses, 3 of which are sponsors here! Been playing with lots of new blanks lately, too!! I have a ton of stuff now to keep in trouble with! Re: Waiting Time between CP and Epoxy

I have been using Cason Crystal Clear lately. I find it a great CP. Gin clear and thin. I know Mud Hole carriers it. Good Wraps Bob Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
