My Dad was a demonstrator for the Sila-flex rod company. He recently passed away. I have a picture of him making a trick cast during one of the shows. I also located one of 2 rods that were given to him by Sila-flex (this was before Browning bought them out). This rod is inscribed and signed by the owner of Sila-flex. I know that this rod is over 55 years old. Dad had me casting in these shows when I was 3 years old, and he had the rod then. I know that the rod is not worth much to anyone else, but I would like to be able to have a history of the Sila-flex company just to put with this rod. Re: Looking for historic data

Mike,
I would most certainly look up Dr. Todd Larson who is the creator of “Fishing for History: The History of Fishing and Fishing Tackle. He is a super nice guy and is so knowledgeable about the very kind of thing you are looking for. [fishinghistory.blogspot.com] Be sure and tell him that I said hello. Check the link listed for a contact with Boyd Pfeiffer. Boyd was at the ICRBE this year in High Point. He recalled his contacts with the past to many in attendance. He is actively in contact with one of the "trick casters" from the past that is still active on the tackle show circuit. Boyd is a gentleman who will surely take time out on a busy day to respond.
Here is a section of text that indicates Boyd has written something about someone with the last name Bradford. Rod Building And Repair C. Boyd Pfeiffer is one of America's most authoritative and respected outdoor .... Walt Carpenter; John Bradford; Jim Hidy; Homer Jennings; Joe Arguello; ... [www.flyfishersofvirginia.org] I will send Boyd a link to this thread via personal email. Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 03/27/2010 04:03PM by Bill Stevens.
