Looking to build a vertical jigging/spinning blank on a CBVJ6040 (6' - 20-40#) rod. Anyone have experience with something similar? What guides did you use? Spacing/Sizes?
Thanks in advance. Re: Vertical Jigging/Spinning Blank

I do not know which blank that is. Are you looking for a comparable blank, or components to build that one? Re: Vertical Jigging/Spinning Blank

It is a mudhole vertical jigging blank. 6', 20-40#. I am mainly unsure as to which guides to use on it as I will be using a large spinning reel. Re: Vertical Jigging/Spinning Blank

Since that blank for light jigging (20-40#), it match with Shimano 6000 or 8000 size reel.
MNSG/CMNAG 30, 25, 20, 16, 12, 10, and 10 MNST/CMNAT top. Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 03/09/2010 11:19PM by Freddy Chrisdijanto. Re: Vertical Jigging/Spinning Blank

What reel?
MNSGs if you are after fish that rip a ton of line in a very short period. (AmTak NICs and NIVs are lighter though) If you are bottom fishing, either Alconites (BMNAT) or Hardloy (BNLG) will suffice. (I don't prefer the V frame guides (personal preference, they work fine)) I'd imagine something along the lines of: 40-25-16-12-12-12 and 12 tip (substitute 10 for the 12 if your knots are smaller). Depending on the reel you may get away with a 30-20-12-10-10-10 setup Fuji DPSH, gimbal and a rear grip with a length comfortable to tuck under your arm and not hit your armpit while jigging[15.5" overall (grip+gimbal) is comfortable for me, but may not be for you]. Shorter on the foregrip (6-8"). Re: Vertical Jigging/Spinning Blank

I agree! I have built a few of these, but in conventional versions. They have a pretty soft action to them. 8" foregrip is nice on conventionals, but it will be personal taste on a spinner! I did up 1 6' spin jig rod, used 40, 30, 20, 16, 12 MNSG's on it IIRC for a Saragosa 18000 reel for jigging tuna. With jigging, some guys go with smaller guides since you aren't casting. I have seen people use the Fuji Low Rider Guides for spin jigging rods, too. The Alconite or SiC MN series should be fine. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
