I was thingking about building a Med jigging rod and wanted and feed back if you have handled both rods. I was looking at a 4C70MF St. Croix SCIV blanks and a RX8 XSB822.5-TC, I'm building for sensitivity and easy of casting. I know this is an open question and a blanks feel is defined by the user, but any feedback will help. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 03/09/2010 01:38AM by Isaiah Bumagat. You've got two blanks there that are nothing like each other. Beyond the two manufacturers, those blanks are for very different uses.

The Rainshadow will be bit lighter. It's also a beautiful color. I don't know much about St. Croix, but you'd be hard put t beat the Rainshadow for price and quality Re: Opinion on St. Croix and Batson Blank

What kind of jigging are you talking about? For myself, the Rainshadow blank would be a bit too light for what I would like to use for throwing a jig. I use that blank more as a dropshot rod myself. I would go with one of the other Rainshadow blanks rated for the 10-17 pound test. As far as the St Croix blank goes, out of the 2, that would be the best for throwing a jig. The XSB822.5 lacks the power of the 4C70MF. The XSB843 is almost a perfect match in power. The Batson is about 20% more efficient and also much faster. If you don't plan to go much heavier than 1/2 oz jigs, either would work great, but I'd go with the lighter, more efficient blank, the RX8. Re: Opinion on St. Croix and Batson Blank

Robert that is exactly what I was looking for. I plan to throw light jigs for bass fishing and wanted something that would cast all day. You hit it on the spot with the efficiency rating. I have a produciton SC4 spinning rod which I love, but wasnt sure on how the casting rod would feel. Thanks for the input. Re: Opinion on St. Croix and Batson Blank

hi Matt Davis
I need and do not have. Do you have what I need? Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
