I just started adding two coats of crystal clear to my waterslide decals...I really liked the results of the first one...almost flawless!
However,Im adding another one (from the same sheet) and it seems to be cracking alot after I throw on some microsol. I remember the first one doing this a little, but shouldnt the epoxy fill in the gaps for a clean finish? Thanks Walker Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 03/01/2010 03:53PM by Walker_Nelson. try 3 coats krylon 1311 - matte acrylic clear coat to seal them instead of enamel. Regards, -Justin Re: Inkjet waterslide decals...Too much cracking?

Yes, but it's an aerosol that doesn't overly wet the decal. Not that this is your problem, but it's another way to effectively seal a decal.

the solvent based color preserves went out years ago due to their tendency to crack and check. They go on fine and look good for a while but they end up cracking and checking over time. Dump the solvent based product and go with a water based type. Re: Inkjet waterslide decals...Too much cracking?

Thanks guys...I figured out a solution last night...Instead of using a decal thats been fully cured with Krylon,I sprayed a thrid ,fresh coat on...Let it set up under a lightbulb for about 20 minutes..Slapped it on with absolutely no issues!!!...No cracks,or anything...I guess the key is to only spray them prior to use, this way,the top cures (like epoxy) first, then the rest will cure later after you've applied it...It also self-wrapped itself around the rod...no fighting it,very easy........What a relief!!!.....I will look into water based products....any suggestions??
