Rainshadow RCLB series

Greetings,
I've built a couple of the RCLB 80XL and 80L and have found them to be a bit more than a little under rated. I believe they function quite well at the very top of their ratings. For those of you who have used this series, have you had the same experience? How far above the ratings would you be comfortable fishing? last summer I fished one of my 80XL spirals with about 12lbs of drag..........

To a certain degree. I have the 80XL and use it with 17# mono. They are nice for fish on the top. The tip is a little soft for bottom fishing IMHO. I'd be more inclined to fish them near the top of the rating than the bottom. Nice blanks at a nice price. I had the chance to compare it side by side with the calstar 800XL. Sure I did like the calstar a tiny bit better but for 2.5 times the price it is a no-brainer for me:)

Ya, I agree. I Love Calstar, I have over a dozen Grafighters. But I am very impressed with th rainshadows. I use and recommend them unless they insist that I use Calstar or Seeker.
