NGC guide placement

I am building (3) spinning rods from different manufacturers all 6'6", 2 pc Med/Fast 6-12 line.
Most likely they will all have the same shimano reels on them (same spool dia.)
The 27X method puts the choker guide at 48" based on the spool dia.
I'm anticipating guide sizes of 30, 20, 12, 8, 6 (x4) - obviously I have to verify using NGC method.

But my question is...using the NGC system will the guides on all three rods be the same size and in basically the same locations.? (I will static test for final locations)

They should be about the same if you're using the same reel and line on all of them. The butt, transition and choker guides for sure but the running guides may be a little different based on static testing. But they should at least be close. The number of guides used on that set up is usually enough that you don't get wildly different stress distribution results.

I think you will end with a high frame 25 for your butt guides.

Hi Steven,
If you follow the method outlined in this article: [www.rodbuilding.org], your rods will all have the same spacing. Of course, static testing may change things. You may have one or two extra sizes of guides in your listing above. For a fairly light rod, you'll probably need 2 or 3 transition sizes (including butt guide). Let the line path tell you what to use. The choker should be the smallest size of any of the guides that you're using.

I notice you want to use 4 reduction guides. You should read the following closely.

Jim, I said 4 reduction guides based on the spacing in between.
Seems like too much space in between with only 3.
You go from about 5" between the choke and running guides to
like 8 and 10" between the reduction guides using only 3.
