A friend wants a 6'3" or 6'6" baitcasting rod that he can cast 1/4 to 5/8 ounce surface lures for bass. He stands on a casting deck and will fish lures by pulling lures across water with tip pointed toward water so the shorter the better (make sense? ) I have a St. Croix 6'3" tourney in mind but he doesnt want to spend that kind of money. Any previous experience with blanks in this lure rating and length?
thanks Buzz Re: suggestion on surface lure bait casting blank

Maybe a MB783 type blank cut down, that would make it a little less powerful and more moderate action. The nice thing is the huge selection in these blanks, everyone who makes blanks makes one, so you should be able to find one in any price range. Re: suggestion on surface lure bait casting blank

Call Lance at Swampland tomorrow or so - he had couple blanks at the show that would work perfect that were in the $15 -$20 range and he had a few left when I left about 1:00. ----------------- AD Re: suggestion on surface lure bait casting blank

Hi Buzz,
I am not sure on the exact price range you require but I would suggest looking at our HM Classic Series, they are awesome blanks. They range from the upper $40 to lower $50. Look at the ACMB782 which is rated 1/4 - 5/8 oz. or even the 783 which is 1/4 - 3/4 oz. Another possibility would be the ACCB783 for a bit slower action but still rated 1/4 - 5/8 oz. They have the perfect blend of mixed-modulus materials that allow precise cast-ability. For accuracy and performance, I feel they’ll stand up to anything out there. Hope you consider them.
