I have a question about Calstar blanks. I have been hired to build (4) 50lb trolling blanks on #2 aftco storabutts, reels are Shimano TLD 5/0...looking for a cal star blank either an E-glass or maybe Grafighter series. Primary Target is tuna 50- 100lb/s we get up off Cape cod. I was looking at the GF 760 m or maybe a 655 Xh (e- glass)....any suggestions.? The angler says he maybe fighting the fish out of the gunnel on some occasions.
Any help in this matter would be deeply appreciated Thanks Peter Re: 50-80 lb trolling Blank Calstar?

If he's going to be doing this stand-up style, opt for the shorter blank.

I'd go with the e-glass blank. The 655 is good, but you best figure the worst case (rod in holder) and go to a XXH. Re: 50-80 lb trolling Blank Calstar?

I would go with the 665XH or XXH. XXH for the bigger fish, I use my 655XH with a 30 for Canyon YFT. The bigger blank may do better fighting from the rod holder. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
