Lamiglas Sardina blanks?

I was looking around at the Lamiglas Sardina blanks on Anglers Workshop. They make a 6-6 rated for 30-60lb. I'm looking for a good glass rod for my Penn 555GS to fish 50lb on. I plan on building a Super Seeker CBF70H later on to match with a nicer reel, but for now i would like something I can use till I have the money to upgrade. This would be used for yoyo iron, big dropper loops at Colonett, and maybe for some of the bigger bluefin we might see on a 2-3 day. What do you think of the Sardina blanks in comparison to the Calstar WC series? Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 02/06/2010 08:35AM by Chris Rhoden. Re: Lamiglas Sardina blanks?

Chris,
I am not familiar with the rod. However, on occasion I do use a Penn GS 555. "for my Penn 555GS to fish 50lb on" If you check www.pennreels.com, you will find a maximum drag rating for the 555 of 11 pounds. This is more in line with a 30# class reel. You may want to consider the Penn Torque TRQ 200. Don Don Becker Re: Lamiglas Sardina blanks?

Thanks for the advice Don....I appreciate your response :)
When they first came out with the 555GS some of our California captains started pulling on wahoo with them. One of the mods Ive made is to replace the 4-60 washer under the main gear with a 6-349 straight from a Jigmaster drag, which helps with the drag issue a bit. The reel is still rather underpowered for its size due to the gearing, and as I said, I will replacing it sometime soon with something better. But for now, it will have to do. Thanks for the advice however! Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
