Can someone help me with the seat size for a Seeker SBS706-S glass with a 9 in rear grip? Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 02/04/2010 11:58PM by Chuck Mills. Re: Seat size for SBS706-S glass

Chuck, I recently built one and I used a Fuji sz 17 non exposed grip seat, model TCSD. I had to ream it out just a little to get it to slide in place 10'' from the butt of the blank. Lance Re: Seat size for SBS706-S glass

I use a Fuji Ecsm17 On that blank. Its the 756 Blank that I have trouble with. Mike Thompson Thompson's Custom Rods It is impossible to make anything foolproof, because fools are so ingenious! Re: Seat size for SBS706-S glass

If you did not order the blank yet, have the supplier test fit the seat for ya. Bill - willierods.com Re: Seat size for SBS706-S glass

I used size 18 seats on the 10 or so I have built and the size 18 did not require shimming in the rear (tight fit) Re: Seat size for SBS706-S glass

Thanks Josh. I think I'll just buy a few of each (17 & 18). I have Rich's book and he says 18, but I think he was using an 8" total length split grip. Re: Seat size for SBS706-S glass

You will have to ream the 17 seat although I haven't built one with that short of handle. If you can use the 17 it will give you a better feel as it has a smaller diameter and the ecsm 17 Will let you palm the reel better. On the BS756S I had to use a 20 and nobody makes a 20 that I like, even cutting the seat for blank exposed it works but its a big honkin seat. Mike - would you think about extending a 706 next time?
