I had been casting about for a different light for the rod building bench.
I had ordered a long swing arm light with a 100 watt halogen bulb. The light arrived, but I was disappointed with the amount of emitted light. However, the bulb was a standard 6 inch long bulb, with heat resistant socket so I tried a few different bulbs. I found that the standard 150 watt bulb gives about double the amount of light that came with the light. But the use of a 300 watt bulb gives me the light of the sun so to speak. I think I will end up using either the 150 watt, or possibly a 200 watt bulb. I am mounting the light on the wall behind the bench to give me free bench space as is illustrated by a few other builders in the photo section of this forum. Then, the long arm will give me plenty of adjustment. The use of the right bulb bulb will give me the light level that I want. I suspect that I will end up with the use of a 300 watt bub and then put a dimmer in the line to dial down the light if needed. Thanks for all of the help and advice given me earlier as I was casting about for the ideal light for the bench. Roger Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
