Eva Foam Tricks

I'm eager to learn a little about how to add a little color to my eva foam grips so I bought some colored eva foam strips. Before I slice up my grips and start gluing, does anyone know of an online tutorial showing how it's done?

Depending on what you want to do [www.rodbuildingtutorials.com] is a good place to start.

If you do spruce up your grips how do you cut the EVA? Any type of jig or tool to make the cuts straight?

It's all covered in the RodMaker article.

If you have a lathe, set your grip spinning and use a stout piece of rod wrapping thread so slice the grip in narrow sections. You can cut very narrow trim rings this way. It's fast, easy and very precise.

A trick I learned from an old VHS tape Dale Clemens did is for making equal sized rings cut from EVA is to glue 2 exacto blade on both sides of a handle cut to a predetermined width. Start you cut with this tool then finish the cut as Tom mentioned with a piece of thread.

Eventually, all things merge, and a river runs through it..
