Fuji Concept Guides

I am building a 6'8" MEF spinning rod, using the silver Fuji concept.
Guides that are suggested - 30, 16,10,8,7 ,6,6 and a tip of 5.
After temp installation of the guides, the # 30 looks far to large. Can I change out the 30 and replace it with a 25 or smaller and still get the new concept guide effect? That 30 looks really out of place.

Mark,
If I am using 10-20 lb test line on a spinning reel with this medium heavy rod, I would certainly use the size 30 guide.

If you go smaller, and are using heavy line, the line will restrict the line on casts.

If, however, you are using line that is lighter than 15 lb test, you could go down to a size 25 with very little, if any reduction being noted.

Actually for some of my rods, even using 6 lb line - I very much prefer the use of the size 30 guide. I find that I have optimum results with this guide size.

Take care
Roger

Assuming even mono, a size 25 ring is large enough provided you have enough height. You will most likely that you want that guide about 20 to 22 inches from the face of the reel spool.

If we're talking braid, you could easily get by with a size 20, provided you have enough frame height.

Mark,
Do yourself a favor.
Pick up a size 20, 25, and 30 sized guide.
Tape the guides on the rod and then put the reel with the line you intend to use.
Do some practice casts - and retrieves with each of the different sized butt guides listed.

Let us know your thoughts.

The field test really determines the function of the rod.

All of the above posts are right on.
But field testing is the final test.

Take care
Roger
