Mark,
i hear what your saying and i understand completely. i have leveled everything to best i could do i had a buddy come by and take a look and he tried, no luck for either of us. yesterday i talked to one of the guys at pac bay who was very understanding to my problem we were on the phone for close to an hour trouble shooting the problem. along the way with him on the phone i tried three different rods that i have built on this lathe and had the same outcome. he suggested that i send the whole thing back so they could make things right for me and they could take a look at things first hand rather then by the pictures and video i sent to him. in his own words he said something is not right this should not be happening there is a problem. the chucks were not opening to let go of the rod, after it fell out and i put the little black things back on i could not get the rod back into the chucks. which lead him to think that there was a defect in the chucks. maybe i just dont know enough yet about using a motorized lathe but thats all i can come up with. if i have a decent taper in the last 24 inches at the tip end of the blank what would you do to resolve this problem? im not at all trying to sound like i want to argue about this if it comes off that way im just looking to build rods for my own fun and use with that said your help would be a big help to me thanks brian Re: rod wrapper

Brian,
I wasn't aiming that at you at all... I was trying to make the point that leveling IS important before folks started disregarding the correct set-up. I'll be very interested to hear what Pac Bay finds when they inspect your wrapper. If you can, let me know who you dealt with up there so that I can follow up with them. Like I said, we've never had an actual "defect', but as many of these as we sell, I need to know what to look out for if a possible defect DOES exist. Even though I don't think your wrapper came from us, call me if you have any questions when you get your replacement. Mark Griffin [] C&M Custom Tackle San Dimas, California Re: rod wrapper
