Grizzly Hobby Lathe Question
Posted by: Chuck Mills (---.gctel.stellarllc.net)

I found some drills locally that look like they may fit the Grizzly Hobby Lathe. Could someone that has one please tell me the inside diameter of the clamp where the drill fits? I would appreciate it. I need to turn some foam soon and I am undecided on which midi lathe to get so this might get me by this winter.

Thanks!

Chuck

I think alot of the drills that have the area for the handle clamp are pretty close in diameter. I thought I read here that the DeWalt one worked. (the regular size - the 18v cordless). I can measure mine when I get home in the AM so u can compare to yours if you like.

Chuck, the collet/clamp opening (measured with drill removed) is approx 43mm, my 1/2" Grizzly drill collet is just a hair over 42mm.

My Sears Craftsman drill is just short of 42mm and doesn't clamp securely in the Grizzly lathe.
