Reel doesn't fit reel seat

I recently purchased a Galvan T-3 reel for my next project - a Dan Craft FT863-4. I've been picking up components here and there and have three different reel REC reel seats to choose from unfortunately the feet on the T-3 reel won't fit in any of them.

Can anyone recommend a smallish-size reel seat that will fit a small reel with big feet?

Thanks,
Tom

I suggest you talk with one of the suppliers on the left who carry Galvan, they should be able to help you. I have run into the problem the other way around with the foot being very small and corrected it be shimming the bottom of the reel foot.

I ran into that problem on the very first fly rod I built (many moons ago). The reel was an inexpensive Pflueger Medalist. Fortunately, my bench grinder fixed the problem quickly. (I sure wish that would work with my own size 13 EEEE feet...buying shoes is a challenge)

Angler's Workshop can tell you, they carry Galvin reels and just about everyone's reelseats.

Tom,
Have you considered a skeleton seat with a properly sized reel seat insert?

Aren't the foot of the reel that sets on the rod...mounted to the reels with screws? Can't you just change the reel foot?

I've contacted Galvan to see if they make a smaller foot and am awaiting a reply. If they do, problem solved... If not, I'll do as many of you suggested and contact some of the board's sponsors in search of a compatible reel seat.
Thank you all for your replies.

Tom,
My goodness. There are literally hundreds of reel seats on the market. Simply pick up a reel seat that fits your reel.
Take care

Tom,

I've just finished installing an American Tackle U-5 skeleton w/birch bark insert on a blank and both the rear foot slip and front hood are of a size that will accept a reel foot noticably larger than both the REC's and Batson's that I have. I don't think the machining (knurling) is quite as pretty as the REC's but the increased size should easily accomodate the larger footed reels.
