When your doing a rod,say like a blue and white is there a trick to keep the color from blending togather,i put the blue base down then add the white in small places around the rod,it seems like the wjite will blend in with the blue, almost all of it,what the trick to this not happening? i'd bet your white has a lot of "vehicle" (old painters term for what allows the pigment to flow), i.e. clear and a thinning agent.
try letting the white set for a day or two then pour off the clear into another container after that what you will have is almost 90% pigment of white. Re: marbling a rod

The key is to letting it sit for a few before applying so that it thickens. Also, your pigment will be thick and should also thicken the finish some.. Grab a piece of scrap blank or dowel and play with it. [www.rodbuilding.org] Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!!
