Today I had the pleasure and honor of testing Lamiglas' newest product.
The GSB 156 2M is 13' 0", lure 3 to 5 ounces, line 15 to 25#, tip size (tube) 10/64, blank weight 14 1/8 ounces. The tip and handle are of equal length. Sleeved ferrule. The action is moderate-fast. I built the rod using Alconites. BMNAT tip top 12-10, BLNAG 12, BLNAG 12, BLNAG 12, BLNAG 12, BLNAG 16, BMNAG 16, BMNAG 20, BMNAG 25 (on ferrule). The blank is slightly large for a 22 mm reel seat. Although it was close to fitting the size 22 seat, I opted for a size 24. The 24 will fit a larger range of reels. Recommended reels would be: ABU 6500 & 7000, Penn 525 & 535, Daiwa 20 & 30, and Newell 200 series reels. The rod proves very effective at reaching out. As I am currently undergoing physical therapy, I was not able to put my all into a cast. However, I nearly emptied the spool of a Penn 525 filled with 20# Ultima line. Also noted was the power for a rod with the above ratings. By power, I am refering to the ability to boost a large fish. The most common questions asked by people handling the rod were: When can I get one? and How soon will it be available? The most common statement was: It will make a great bait casting rod. Was I impressed? I ordered 12 to start. The staff (most) at Lamiglas may not be familar with the blank number (GSB 156 2M) as it came into existence today. You may need to refer them to the development or production departments. My thanks to Lamiglas for developing this blank, Don Don Becker Re: Lamiglas GSB 156 2M Surf Rod Report

Hi Chuck,
This is a very different blank. Being a GSB series, it is a more affordable fishing rod. It will probably be the last project completed prior to 2010. So far this year, we have seen the new Oio Special (15' surf rod), the Ulua Plugging rod (rated at 60 to 100# line), and the kayak out riggers. I guess we should offer the GSB 156 2M as a completed rod. I am working with Lamiglas on a couple of projects for 2010. Mahalo, Don Don Becker Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
