Does anyone have any opinions on how the new MHX blanks compare to the Lamiglas XMG50 blanks? It has been said the the MHX are comparable to the loomis IMX but I have not used those rods.
Any thoughts or opinions are greatly appreciated. Patrick Rutledge Re: XMG50 vs MHX

You would have to be specific to a particular model of blank to make any comparison worthwhile. XMG blanks are very nice blanks, when used for the correct application. As far as MHX blanks being comparable to IMX ... the same statement should be made. Each individual has their own criteria for establishing value and performance. I own ALL of the above and my current favorite "Go To" rods for inshore use are actually a St Croix SC3 and a G Loomis GL3. Re: XMG50 vs MHX

I guess the requirement I am most looking to compare would be the sensitivity of the blank. I know that spawns a huge debate over what sensitivity is, and sensitivity is hard to define. I would define it as the ability to feel the bite. Some obvious comparisons are that an XMG rod is more sensitive then a standard modulus graphite rod which is more sensitive then a fiberglass rod. I also know the large effect that the rest of the components have on sensitivity.
So I guess the easiest way to answer my question would be; are the MHX rods in the same league as the XMG50 as far as sensitivity go? Thanks, Patrick Rutledge Re: XMG50 vs MHX

Both should be great blanks but if you have to compare both, the XMG should be a grade above the MHX.

Patrick,
while both series of blanks are blends of different fibers the overall modulus of the MHX is lower than the XMG by about 5MM. Todd Regards, Todd Vivian Mud Hole Custom Tackle todd@mudhole.com Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
