I am IMPRESSED!

Catching up on some of the tools and equipment on the photo page and came upon this, [www.rodbuilding.org]

Looks like a hospital surgery room! I wanted to ask if the lathe benches were custom made or have they been adapted from some other use? I assume the high area on the near end are drawer units for thread storage?

Peter,

I built the benches for wrapping and installing epoxy. Each bench was made from a 8 foot counter top that I found at a home improvement center. I bought all three counter tops at a discount because they had small defects and the base of the benches are inexpensive 2 door organizer some with a drawer. I used some PVC pipe as legs to support the back of the benches. The high area you mention on the end of the bench are small shelves for storage. The shelves was a 24" tall shelf unit I cut in half . Here is a photo of the back side of the benches that show the shelves. [WWW.rodbuilding.org]

Very nice shop. Makes mine look like a prison. I think I need to do some remodeling.

Lynn -
Do you have any remaining rooms in your house - LOL. Very, very nice layout in multiple rooms to keep down dust in the wrapping area with a separate office area. Wonderful set up - very logical and well thought out.

I'm guessing that the front bench is his since the cable remote is on top it.

Thanks for the kind words - I think!

I am very fortunate to be able to have a shop like this to build rods in and store my boat.

Ken, the multiple rooms work very well for the dust problem. I also use the foam pipe insulator under the door and foam around the door to seal all the doors in the shop. These photos were taken a couple years ago. so the shop is not that clean now.

Dave, the front bench is used for wrapping and the back bench is used for installing epoxy. I use the side bench for weaves or different wraps.

And you are right Gary - the front bench is mine so I can control the TV remote ha ha.

Paul you said "Very nice! Mental assylum white!" that's good because the wife says I'm insane so that fits. Your right the white room has a function.
