Gentlemen:
I am getting ready to marbel a rod using gold as the primary marbel color. I am currently using Testors gold but would like a little more gold flash to match my gold thread inlays. Could I add a little metallic gold glitter to my mix? Or there any other brands of gold pigment on the market that would give me my desired effect? Any ideas or input are appreciated. Thank you, Tom Re: Marbeling,Need brightest Gold

Tom,
I'm afraid that if you mix glitter with your pigment, the glitter will be covered by the pigment and it won't show up. I haven't actually tried it, just speculating. Could you mix glitter with your clear epoxy coat to finish? Obviously, the glitter would then be over the whole marbled section and that may not be the look you are trying to achieve. I've use Createx paints to do marbling and they have worked nicely. They may have what you are looking for. jeremy Re: Marbeling,Need brightest Gold

Do the gold marble as your 1st layer and let it cure, put on the 2nd coat of just clear finish and add the flake to that clear coat, then follow by a third coat of just clear for protection.

Go to your local Craft store and get "Liquid Gold" brand paint, It's in a small bottle about twice the size of a bottle of Testors and is a lot brighter than anything else I've found. It's pricey though, About 9 bucks for a little bottle. They have several different shades of gold to choose from, Silver, Copper and bronze as well Re: Marbeling,Need brightest Gold

being an old custom auto/bike painter try this.
take the gold powder and mix it with just enough clear to liquefy the stuff and use it as your gold paint providing the power is the brighter of the two. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
