A quick question , on a fly rod at the joint for the two pices or three peices, ( No ferrules ) do you start the wrap at the hole end and wrap up on the rod or do you start a distance from the hole and wrap to it? Re: Fly rod wrap

Either one you are comfortable using. I personally wrap from the end up and away from the joint. I find this way easier to get my wraps very close to the end and to finish with the pull thru.
I wrap to within 1/16" of the end. and often include trim wraps as well. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 10/08/2009 11:51PM by Phil Erickson. Re: Fly rod wrap

I do it just the opposite of Phil. I start the wrap away from the end and wrap toward the end. No particular reason. That's the way I started doing it and I still do it that way. So,,,you can actually do it any way that's comfortable for you. J.B.Hunt Bowling Green, KY Re: Fly rod wrap

I start at the hole end. Easier for me as I can push the thread close to the end and get it squared/matching the cut.

Thanks for the information, I will try both and see which one works best for me. Again thanks. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
