M&M Addition

M&M stood for Micro Maniac - Maybe we should award an honory third "M" to all the Manufacturers who support this forum and all custom builders.

I hope those who are using the micro guides will take the opportunity to post on this thread. Since the article on the micro guides was published in Rodmaker and the initial posting of M&M Volume 1 almost a year ago a lot of water has gone under the bridge! Sometime the water gets rough and runs quite swiftly!

It is quite clear custom builder's have received the attention of the manufacturers who support this forum. American Tackle, Batson, Fuji and Pac Bay have all brought components to market, on a very timely basis, that have clearly advanced our efforts to build a better fishing rod.

In the past two weeks, I have received new guides and tip tops that were only available a year ago in my dreams! The manufacturers shook the dice and built these things without commitment from the larger production rod market to purchase in large quanties. They all did something in support of the custom buider market segment.

There have been many posts on this forum - with many different opinions concerning the viability of these small guides - even what they should be called. It is now time for all who are using the new products to thank manufacturers for supporting custom builders. Maybe we can even entice them to post a response describing their future plans in the area.

They delivered on:

Micro Tops With Larger Tubes - Guide Redesign To Reduce Tangling - Frame Height Alterations - Foot Shape For Forhan Lock - Defined Tunnels - Locking Rings - Ring Materials - Bending Radius - Frame Materials - Cost Reduction - Wide Selection

Absolutely amazing that our small market segment could actually drive the boat for a change. This is proof that they do listen!

Thanks to all manufacturers!

Hopefully it is proving profitable for the manufacturers and distributors! I hear more talk among clients coming in looking for micros, more people asking questions, etc.

Thanks to Bill for pushing and thanks to the manufacturers for responding! Options are never a bad thing to have lots of from a buyer/user perspective!

Looking forward to hearing what is down the road...

The manufacturers are to be commended for listening. Those speaking to them the loudest deserve thanks. It is often observed that innovations in production rodbuilding are driven by ideas from the custom builders. This could be a sign that it doesn't take as long for the wagging tail to wiggle the dog as it used to.
