I can not believe the price of the guide wraps. Most rod manufactures pay their workers by the wrap from 10 cents to 20 cents a guide depending on the wrap. In any case their workers are paid by the wrap

I can see how they can re-wrap them cheap enough. I took a kistler rod down for a micro build last week and their finish dos not adhere to the blank at all, it all peels off very, very easily, down to blank in a touch over 30 minutes, re-wrapped in a bit over an hour and a half and I'm in-experienced. BTW, Alex, how long has this been rumored that North Fork was going to be making blanks for them?

It's posted on their website for the Sept newsletter or whatever it's called... a simple google search for "Kistler North Fork" will yield results for the page.

I had heard about it as early as the beginning of Sept. Check their forum board for info regarding the rewraps.

The pay "per wrap" info is NOT accurate. The major manufactures I know pay their employees by the hour, not by piece. In fact in many states it is not legal. My references are: Sage, Winston, St. Croix and a few others.

Phil,

Almost all of the rod companies (including the BIG ones), employ "outwrappers" who pick up the rods at the plant, take them home, wrap the guides and return them, in addition to their own employees. They are not employees, but "contractors" and are paid by the guide or number of "starts" on their wrapper. All supplies and spacing is provided.and finish is applied at the factory, not by the out wrappers.
