Question on acid wrap

I have a 8' lamiglass fiberglass blank Salt water rated to 30# line with the butt end at .950 and a 13 tip. I am going to be using this rod for live bait mostly eels for large rockfish from a bridge. Would i be better off doing an acid wrap on this rod? Also any advice on guide sizing? The tip top is going to be a size 12 ring, so could i use a size 8 guide for the 4 first guides, then go to a 12 then 16? or should the first 4 guides match the tip top? Thanks in advance guys.

I'd use the Simple Spiral for this. Volume 8 #5 had the set up for a live bait rod in 7' length. Setting it up for an 8 footer would simply require an extra guide or two.

Any spiral wrap is going to be a good idea for such a rod.

Thank you! I have that issue which is what made me decide to build this. I ran into that issue earlier today. I guess my real question is about the guides. Would it be OK to use a number 8 guide for the last 4 guides if the tip top is a 12, or should I go with larger guides due to such a big tip top. Thank you very much for your help!

No, go with the smallest guides possible, regardless of what you have to use as the tiptop.
