Fuji or American Tackle?

I have always used Fuji guides mostly because they are what is predominantly available in Aiustralia and they have a good reputation for quality and durability.

I am keen to broaden my horizons. I am keen to try the American Tackle Titan giudes. Has anyone ever had any issues with these guides? Are they equal to Fuji?

Thanks
Chris

I use the Titans regularly and they work great. I was told if you look at the rings under the scope, they aren't as good as the Fujis, but I don't have any complaints and they cost me 1/2 what the Fuji titaniums cost. The only complaint I have is that the titanium guides, both Fuji and AmTak, seem to break more easily than the stainless guides. A few bends and the titaniums pop. I don't have the same problem with any brand of stainless.

I've looked at the Fujis and the AmTacks under a 10x jewelers loupe.

I was impressed by the AmTack. It's amazing what you see under magnification.

The American Tackle guides will do anything the Fuji's will. Quality is excellent, and some nice color/style options.

Once you switch you'll wish you had done it sooner.

I actually prefer the American Tackle guides now that they are offering "micro" guides. I just wish they had a taller frame for their smaller (10 & 12) spinning guides.

I can vouch for the American Tackle Titan guides. This past June I caught a 261.2 lb yellowfin tuna on a Super Seeker 6465 4x with a set of those guides on purpose I might add. They are some tough guides and no need to worry about welds since there are none. They handled the 100 lb spectra just fine also. I couldn't have made a better choice even though I had my doubts on fishing regular guides instead of rollers for big fish. I am glad that the folks at American Tackle talked me into trying them..Photo on misc page

I have 4 sets sitting here going on calstars. The TITAN series overall is excellent and also less expensive than Fuji's.

Matthew, the NBRLA or the DBRLA if you need just a little more height.

My take, having explored both brands is that both have their place depending on what you are looking for. I would say both have their advantages depending on your criteria. At this point, I don't know of any 'bad' guides from the major brands.
