I am looking to build a Jigging rod for a Quantum Cabo 60 with 50lb braid,, I tried jigging for the first time this past weekend and I am hooked. My question is on the butt and the handle.I am going to use a CTS 30-50lb 6' jigging stick, I was thinking of making the butt section about 10" using an 8" slick butt and a gimble, and the handle about 11" foam core, Carbon fibre. Going to use a DPSD24 seat. I got a recommendation on the guides so I think I am set there. What does anyone think of that length of butt and handle and the reel seat. Thanks Scott Re: 30-50lb Jigging rod how to set up

For effort efficiency that butt needs to be a lot longer Scott
without going into details search the jigging specific sites for rod images You will get the drift. Re: 30-50lb Jigging rod how to set up

14" rear is my most common length for spin vertical jigging until I get under 5'6" on the blank. Then I go down to 12". Riley Rods-Hard Core Grips to Go!-----Carbon Fiber - Composite Grip Store-----Capt Mike's Blog-----No Excuses Fishing Charters Re: 30-50lb Jigging rod how to set up

A recent survey in the jigging community came up with the majority in the 18-19 " range.
my own personal ones are 18 1/2" ..........so I was right in the middle. Lot of personal tast in this & to some extent depends on where you like your rod bucket & whether you jig in the bucket or jig under the arm. In the end it still needs to be compatible & efficient with the butt in the bucket when a fish is on. For most the rear grip length was constant irrespective of rod length............as the shorter rods were seeking improved fighting efficiency. and improved effort efficiency with heavy jigs.
