I am always interested to see the many posts about what color to use with this blank, or that blank. If it is a question of trying to match a manufactured rod for repair it is a basic question. I would like to know how many builders who read this forum have been challenged with deciding the colors to use on a customers rod. I don't build rods for a living, but rather build for myself for a hobby and enjoy building for someone else (on their dollar) and to prevent me from having too many rods for myself. ( too late!) The latest is a build for a friend of my nephew's. I have never met the new owner of the rod but all I initially knew was that the reel is silver and gold. I asked for a color to break up the silver and gold and was told blue. The rest is up to me. I realize that the artwork in a rod is important to some, nonexistant to others, but so many times we are tasked with coming up with a color scheme and design that we hope will tickle the new owners fancy. Anyway, sorry so long winded, but just wanted some response to this challenge we are sometimes left to deal with on our own, hoping for a customer's satisfaction. Thank you, Greg Weaver

Greg, The creative aspect is the reason most of us build rods. Especially with regard to decorative wrapping and color. If the goal was simply a good fishing rod it would get boring fast. Gold , silver and blue gives you endless possibilities for creativity. Have fun!

Here's a link to a color wheel [www.sessions.edu]# . There's a download that will give you different color selections to match or accent, contrast and so forth. I use the wheel quite often to get ideas for colors.
