Hi All: We are almost exclusively dry fly fishers when it comes to fresh water. We just returned from spending the month on a small river in Missouri. The first several weeks of the month the rivers there were blown out so dry fly fishing was out. However, the last week of May saw some really great dry fly fishing.
I make all our rods (both salt water bait casting and fly rod) and am interested in making a light weight bait casting rod we can use for small fresh water streams when waters are not particularly good for dry fly fishing (we do not particularly like to fish with wet flies, jigs, etc. with fly rods.) Can anyone give me suggestions on specifics of blanks, component, etc. I can look for? I want a multi piece blank for travel purposes. Thanks, Harold Re: Light weight multi piece bait casting rod

Batson has some Forecast blanks that might work for you.

Try the IC-721 6 foot rod but is one pcs. nice blank great for your type of fishing. I fish the same rivers use the SP-721-2 spinning rod and is easier to break down and use in a boat or canoe. Also made a fly rod from same blank to use around the trees were have little room. Hope this helps. Good fishing.
