How Many Guides?

How many guides would you recommend for a 13 foot moderate action float rod? Grip and reel seat set up will be no longer than 500mm long.

Cheers

Chris,

It would depend on if it was a 2 piece or a 3 piece. A 3 piece would get 14 and the 2 piece would get 13 according to my float rod files that I have made up. Also, you may want to consider if it is a fast action or a medium action blank as well.

Thanks Paul. It is a 2 piece. I thought 13 would be ample.

Thumb rule for every foot of rod have a guide plus one. You also might want to do a stress test to determine the correct spacing and the right number of guides. (no 2 blanks of the same series and model are the same)
