I just got finished wrapping a new rod for my wife's birthday. I used Gudebrod Metalic HT and was wondering if I should CP the wraps or just apply the finish.

Apply away. CP isn't needed on metallic, they retain the look without it. There is ONE exception to the rule ... Gudebrod Pearl Metallic. Re: Metalic Thread

Jim is absolutely right about the the pearl HT metalic, but it without cp the pearl makes a pretty cool looking effect on a dark colored blank. It's not actually transparent like regular nylon white thread.
