Ice rod blank .05 tip dia .190 butt dia available in 32" and 50" $5 4'6" to 5'6" 1-piece ultra light spinning blank target butt dia .240 - .300 $30 Ferrule for connection $3 Based on required overall length cut down spinning rod from tip end and 50" ice blank from butt. Epoxy male ferrule to spinning blank Epoxy female to ice rod tip. Should provide an acceptable moderate action 1 weight rod blank for under $40 Components are available from Black Dog Tackle on left. No I haven't done this, but may as an experiment. Figures based on calculations only to obtain a 2-piece 1 weight fly rod in the 6 to 7 foot range for the price you stated.
