I was on Mud Hole's site and saw these surf kits. I was looking at these two for casting 3-5 oz weight:
MHSRK-7 10' 2 pc 12-30 lb. line 3-8 oz. lure MOD-FAST ACTION MEDIUM Power - Mud Hole Surf Rocket said to be made by Lamiglas . Also MHSK18-SURF AXSU110H-2 11' 2 pc 20-40 lb. line 2-6 oz.lure Mod-Fast Action Heavy power This is a American Tackle ATX graphite surf. Just wondering if any one has built these and can I trust the numbers. Bill - willierods.com Re: Can I trust the numbers ?

Greetings Bill,
Not clear of 'what numbers you are referring'. I can say that I have a similar blank and the full set of parts purchased, recently from MudHole. And when I received the blank (never built on Am tack) my 'personal' wag test convinced me to proceed with 'wrapping'. That should happen late this month. It is 'queued up' behind another rod task, a rebuild. I made a related posting, <Re: 10' medium/light surf rod > Shortsy Re: Can I trust the numbers ?

As far as I can tell, there's only one 10-foot, 2-piece, 3-8 blank in Mudhole's surf rocket lineup. It's indeed made by Lamiglas, and I can vouch for it: I've built a half-dozen rods or so on that blank, and it's a good blank at a great price. For surf chunking, throwing payloads in the 4-5-6 oz. range (it can go higher in a pinch), it's great. You can trust the numbers on this blank -- the other one I have no idea about, but I've found that the boys and girls at Mudhole know what they're doing, and you can usually take what comes from them at face value.
Mudhole has changed their Surf Rocket lineup numbers recently, and the catalog number I have is not the same as the number you've listed. I believe the blank you mentioned is the same one I know and like, but you might want to check with Mudhole to make sure. Re: Can I trust the numbers ?

I'd check with the folks at Mudhole, Bill. Considering the specs for the blank in the kit are exactly the same as the Surf Rocket blank I referenced, I'd be pretty sure it's the same blank. But give a call down there if you want to confirm. Re: Can I trust the numbers ?
